Interior Stair Conversion
After removing the old carpet from these interior stairs, the client wanted to make a change and convert them to wood treads to match the existing wood floors in the home. The first step was to reinforce and shore up the existing stair structure to eliminate significant creaking and squeaking. Next, the existing treads were modified to accommodate the new, square-nose, red oak treads, and paintable riser panels. Finally, an ebony stain was applied to match the existing floors and all the trim, base, and risers got a coat of fresh white paint. A handrail was added to the upper portion of the stairs for added safety.
